Every spring and summer, women all over the world decide that it?s high time they lost some weight. Ironically, these are the two seasons full of high-calorie junk foods and drinks ? ice cream, donuts, super calorific milkshakes and cocktails? Luckily, you don?t need to starve yourself to death in order to lose some weight ? all you need to do is make smarter food choices. Here?s what you should choose when in doubt:
Shrimps are not only delicious, but also low in fat. This protein-filled food will help you stay full and energized, and it will also give you a nice dose of vitamin B12. Mix some shrimps, avocado and a fresh tomato salad for a healthy lunch or dinner.
If its way too hot and you don?t really feel like cooking, eating canned tuna is a great choice! Tuna is very healthy and you could mix it with low-calorie crackers or some veggies and make a healthy low-calorie meal in a few minutes.
Eating vegetables is a must! They are low in calories but very high in vitamins and minerals. Throw your favorite veggies on a barbecue and make a delicious meal that will help you lose the weight you gained during the winter.
This is a tasty meal you could make in 15 minutes! Grill some chicken and serve it with cherry tomatoes and fresh cucumbers. This meal is packed with proteins, vitamins and minerals and will keep you full and energized for hours.
Grilled salmon is always a good choice. It?s healthy, and it?s finger-licking good, too! Serve it with fresh lettuce for a light, healthy summer dinner.
Greek yogurt is packed with protein. It?s a good alternative to a home-cooked meal, when you don?t really have the time to make one. Eat it with some low-cal crackers or mix it with some raspberries and make a light summer energy booster in minutes!
Ah, watermelon! It will keep you hydrated, full and ? happy! It?s also a great source of many vitamins, including vitamin A and vitamin C.

It's been a awhile since we caught up with Peel, but the company has certainly been putting its time to good use with a big update to its Android app at Google I/O. A new AllPlay TV component acts primarily as a companion for Google TV, pooling together listings of the disparate sources of conventional and streaming TV without having to break out the awkward remote until absolutely necessary. Live TV, DVR recordings and Netflix all sit side by side; if the season premiere of a show is coming up and last season's finale remains tragically unwatched, Peel will be the cue to record the new airing and hit Netflix for the catch-up. Peel warns that AllPlay TV won't be part and parcel of the app until July -- as compensation, it's promising that the release will bring Android 2.3 users into the fold, and a parallel version is coming to iPhone and iPod touch owners in the next few months.

Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre to reopen with $1.1 million of help from the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal
The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust today granted funding to its first substantial recovery project in Kaiapoi, announcing a $1.1 million grant towards the estimated $5 million cost of repairing the Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre.
The funding, announced today at an event in Kaiapoi by Prime Minister John Key, will be welcome news to the 120,000 local residents who used the Centre's 25 metre pool and learners' pool annually until it was closed by the 22 February 2011 earthquakes.
The Appeal Trust grant includes $500,000 provided by New Zealand Community Trust and $100,000 provided by the United Kingdom Earthquake Appeal Trust. This, together with funding from the Waimakariri District Council and insurance monies, will fund a replacement roof and repair supporting structures at the Aquatic Centre, which is expected to reopen in 12-14 months.
"The damage done by the earthquakes reached far beyond the centre of Christchurch and so the Trustees are pleased to grant the first substantial Appeal funds to this Kaiapoi project. Restoring permanent facilities like public swimming pools is a small but important part of communities like Kaiapoi recovering," says Jane Huria, Chairperson of the Advisory Board to the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust.
Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre is used by families and individuals in Waimakariri District and neighbouring areas. It is one of three pools in the Waimakariri District along with an indoor Dudley Park pool in Rangiora and an outdoor seasonal pool in Oxford.
Mayor of Waimakariri David Ayers says: "The announcement today and the calling for tenders are important steps towards getting this important facility for Kaiapoi and the wider Waimakariri District, up and running again. The community will be extremely grateful for both the grant and the recognition of Kaiapoi it represents. It will be great to start the rebuild of this recreational, sporting and social centre."
Kaiapoi Aquatic Centre had been used by people of all ages - from parents with infants, to 90-year old swimmers - for aquarobics, learn-to-swim, competitive coaching, masters, schools' swimming sports and water safety programmes, preschooler classes, rehabilitation and hydrotherapy and family and recreational swimming.
Groups using the Centre included: Comcare Trust (for a mental health get active programme), Waikuku Beach surf life saving club (winter training), North Canterbury Sport and Recreation Trust (Kiwi Sport swimming lessons for 29 primary schools), and Special Olympics North Canterbury.
This Appeal Trust grant has the support of the Greater Christchurch Sport and Recreation Leadership Group (comprising Sport Canterbury, Christchurch City Council and SPARC).
The Christchurch Earthquake Appeal Trust has committed funds of around $43 million to a range of projects including temporary Pools in Schoolz (in Kaiapoi, at Queenspark School, and at Linwood Ave School), replacement St John emergency equipment, a financial decision guide for red zone residents, temporary business accommodation in Rangiora and Kaiapoi, the Westpac business and community hub, replacement of musical instruments and sports equipment, and the upcoming Children's Cultural Festival for primary schools.

Two of the biggest players in the game console marketplace, Nintendo along with Sony, are usually competing difficult to provide the clientele with the very best gaming knowledge by adding increasingly more features for their flagship units. As a result, game console searching has become one of the various Web exploring options available for you to consumers.
Chitika Observations decided to evaluate this new trend throughout Internet access for his or her latest report. Our review examined the info from a huge number of impressions around the Chitika network by simply gaming consoles coming from June Fourteen to July 20, Next year. A user agent analysis had been conducted to generate the following results:
Sony PlayStation is actually clearly the best in this market, commanding a new 79% Web consumption share, when compared with 21% for Nintendo Wii. This large difference in Internet usage habits is a bit astonishing, as Nintendo has far more active consoles in the You.S by way of a wide border. The difference is probably that the The new sony PlayStation supplies its consumers access to Net browsing features like Fb integration, photo slide demonstrates, and PlayStation network video clips, many of which usually are not present about Nintendo Wii. These functions may induce PlayStation users to use their console for additional Web browsing, as compared to Nintendo wii console users. In addition, Wii users must personally enter Web addresses and search questions by directing the ?Wii-mote? in their Tv set and selecting letters one at a time. This can acquire frustrating, and yes it could discourage users from utilizing the Wii system to browse on a much more regular basis.
While console-based searching presently merely represents a tiny share associated with overall World wide web traffic, you will find there?s concerted effort by suppliers for the gaming system to be a key point in the actual living room. In addition to the courts, and there are old houses that were built in the home of the device in the early 1900s, and modern luxury homes, and condominiums. There are many vacation rentals in San Diego, but we can estimate that half of the vacation rentals in San Diego in Mission Beach or Pacific Beach. The reason is simple: there is no place like this, where you can rent the apartment in the actual size on the waterfront, watching people skate by on the corridor, watching the surfers in the waves and highlights the dolphins in addition to the blue waters and beautiful green.
Rental apartment in San Diego usually means renting a condo in Mission Beach. Although there are many holiday rentals in downtown San Diego, and there are many apartment complexes that limit vacation rentals 30 days or more. Mission Beach is the main site for short-term vacation rental, where you can often rent for 2-3 nights a week in winter, autumn and spring, and on a weekly basis during the summer. In the summer, and most of the lease rentals in Mission Beach from Saturday to Saturday in high season (last week of June to third week of September). Been booked and a typical vacation rental for the month of July in early January of that year, or earlier if you want to be sure to get your favorite spot!
Why so many people come to vacation in San Diego, and get a vacation rental in San Diego? The answer is simple. Where can you come in the middle of summer where warm, not hot, and sit on the terrace of your holiday accommodation at Mission Beach to sip your Mojito and watch the waves, while the smoke of barbecues your perfect? Where can your kids play on the beach as you can see from your flat, jump or walk a little more on your toes in the sand? In Mission Beach, you can play beach volleyball or horses or riding the waves or Bodiboarding. Or, you can sip margaritas all day while the beautiful people go and skate on the corridor.
In short, San Diego offers one of the best holiday destinations in the United States, where you can escape the desert heat, or humidity, and relax in the south of the sparkle of the sunset each day.

A video from Johns Hopkins University explains how teeth were analyzed to determine the diet of a 2 million-year-old human ancestor known as Australopithecus sediba.
By Alan Boyle
Researchers used a clever trio of tricks to figure out what 2 million-year-old human ancestors ate by analyzing the stuff on their teeth, and they found something unexpected: They ate more like chimpanzees than like humans. Their analysis could point to a reason why our species triumphed while some of our long-lost cousins failed.
"Our results suggest that there was more variation among hominins around 2 million years ago, in terms of what they ate and where they lived," Amanda Henry of Germany's Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology explained in an email, using the technical term for humans and their close fossil relatives.
The various species spread out into different environments, ranging from forests to grasslands, but each species had a preferred environment, in part due to diet specialization. "Then, with the evolution of Homo erectus around 1.8 million years ago, we see a big shift," Henry said. "Homo erectus thrived in a whole variety of environments, and was even able to migrate out of Africa."
Homo erectus eventually gave rise to Homo sapiens ? that is, us. Meanwhile, the hominins that were tied down to Africa's forests?? perhaps including Australopithecus sediba, the South African species that Henry and her colleagues studied ? faded away in the competition with other apes. The latest research, published online today by the journal Nature, doesn't address that big evolutionary issue directly. But it does provide plenty of food for thought.
Decoding the diet
Australopithecus sediba was discovered in 2008, and has come to be seen as a transitional species between the relatively small, ape-like pre-humans known as australopiths and our closer ancient relatives in the genus Homo. Only a few specimens of the species have been recovered, but they appear to reflect chimp-like as well as human-like characteristics.
So which way did Au. sediba swing when it came to its diet? The researchers focused on the teeth of two specimens, a juvenile male and an adult female.
First, the researchers zapped the tooth enamel with a laser and analyzed the vapor that was given off. The composition of the enamel preserves a record of what the individual ate while it was growing up. In this case, Johns Hopkins University geochemist Benjamin Passey used a mass spectrometer to look at the balance of carbon-12 and carbon-13 isotopes in the vapor.
Lee Berger
The teeth of a juvenile male Australopithecus sediba had a dark layer of calculus, which is clearly visible in this close-up picture.
If the level of carbon-12 is relatively high, that suggests a diet heavy in forest products such as leaves, fruits and the critters that eat those things. Those are known as C3 foods. But if carbon-13 is high, that points to foods from the African savanna, such as seeds, roots and grasses. These are C4 foods.
"It seems like a hallmark of human evolution to be able to use savanna resources," Passey told me. "Today, most of our energy comes from grass in one way or another, either from grain or from animals that eat grain and grass."
Tests on sediments and various animal bones suggested that the area where the specimens were found was a savanna 2 million years ago. However, when Passey analyzed the samples from Au. sediba, he found that the carbon was almost pure C3, suggesting a diet heavy in forest products.
Two other lines of evidence confirmed that preference: Deposits of plaque on the teeth contained bits of silica, known as phytoliths, that were linked to forest vegetation. Also, the pits on the teeth were characteristic of creatures that favored a forest diet. All the evidence pointed to the conclusion that these particular pre-humans went to the forests for virtually all of their food, even though their remains were left behind in the savanna.
"This astonished us," Passey said.
The meaning of diet
Upon reflection, it shouldn't be that surprising that Australopithecus sediba passed up what the African savanna had to offer, said the University of Colorado's Matt Sponheimer, another co-author of the Nature paper. "We know living apes don't seem to like such foods much ??or at least they are never a large portion of their diets," he told me in an email. "It is likely that this is at least partly due to their masticatory (and probably digestive) anatomy being suboptimal for such diets."
Modern-day savanna chimpanzees engage in similar behavior, the researchers noted.
The findings are consistent with the view that "early hominins were quite flexible with respect to diet, with different populations preferring different parts of the available plant resource base, depending on when they lived, and where," said Bill Kimbel, who serves as director of Arizona State University's Institute of Human Origins but was not involved in the Nature study. "The plant phytoliths are a nice addition to the repertoire of perspectives on the issue."
In an email exchange, Kimbel cautioned against reading too much into Au. sediba's preference, as reflected by the results from two individuals. He took issue with my suggestion that the results put the species in the "chimp camp" rather than the "human camp," and noted that other hominin species had different preferences for C3 vs. C4 foods.
"I don't think sediba should be seen as 'remarkable' in this context," he told me. "And sediba no more belongs in the 'chimp camp' than it does in the 'giraffe camp' (with which it also shares dominant C3 values). This is not a useful analogy."
Sponheimer declined to say whether he thought Australopithecus sediba died out because it didn't shift its diet to the foods of the savanna, "but one could make such an argument if indeed this was an organism tied to very specific microhabitats by a limited dietary repertoire." A different argument could be made as well: Perhaps the descendants of Au. sediba eventually adapted to a diet that took in C4 as well as C3 foods, and thus contributed to the rise of early Homo.
Passey, for one, would love to study more specimens. "It would be nice to analyze those and see if all members of that species have that same forest behavior," he told me. However those future experiments turn out, the findings reported today show how novel techniques ? ranging from precision laser blasting to tooth-crud analysis ? can?shed light on the origin of our species. ??
More about human origins:
In addition to Henry, Sponheimer and Passey, the authors of "The Diet of Australopithecus Sediba" include Peter S. Ungar, Lloyd Rossouw, Marion Bamford, Paul Sandberg, Darryl J. de Ruiter and Lee Berger. The paper, published online today, will appear in a future print edition of Nature.

Radiation exposure is relatively easy to detect, but few treatment options exist for people who have already been exposed to high doses. Image: Kiyoshi Ota/Bloomberg via Getty Images
From Nature magazine
Two anti-clotting compounds already approved for use in humans may have a surprising role in treating radiation sickness. The findings, reported online today in Nature Medicine, also reveal another avenue for understanding and treating the effects of radiation exposure.
Last year's nuclear accident in Fukushima, Japan, renewed anxiety over the lack of treatments for radiation poisoning. It was long thought that the effects of exposure to high doses of radiation were instantaneous and irreversible, leading to destruction of the gut and loss of bone marrow cells, which damages blood-cell production and the immune system. As a precaution against mass radiation poisoning, many governments stock a treatment called granulocyte colony-stimulating factor. This boosts bone marrow function, but it must be kept refrigerated, has occasional side effects, and must be taken as soon as possible after a disaster has occured.
Hartmut Geiger, a stem-cell biologist at the Cincinnati Children?s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio, and his colleagues have uncovered a therapeutic strategy that can be deployed up to 24 hours after radiation exposure. ?Most people think the game is over after you have the damage,? says Geiger. ?Now, we know you can modify that.?
The two compounds are thrombomodulin (Solulin/Recomodulin), currently approved in Japan to prevent thrombosis, and activated protein C (Xigris). Xigris, made by pharmaceutical firm Eli Lilly in Indianapolis, Indiana, was a leading drug for treating inflammation from blood poisoning until it was pulled from the US market last October because of a lack of efficacy. In experiments by Geiger and his colleagues, treating mice with either drug led to an eightfold increase in key bone marrow cells needed for the production of white blood cells, and improved the survival rates of mice receiving lethal radiation doses by 40?80%.
Surprise synergy
The radiation study came about when two independent lines of research were united by a chance phone call. Geiger and his colleagues were screening for mutant mice that showed radiation resistance. They noticed that one mutant mouse was particularly resistant, with a mutation that meant it was producing an excess of thrombomodulin.
Meanwhile, a separate team, including physiologist Hartmut Weiler of the Blood Center of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, had been investigating how naturally occurring protein C in the gut would respond to radiation. A mutual colleague connected the two teams after recognizing the seeds of a potentially fruitful collaboration. Thrombomodulin, it turns out, activates protein C. ?We talked on the phone, and there was stunned silence after we listened to each other?s data,? says Weiler.
In one key experiment, the researchers exposed 48 mice to 9.5 grays of radiation (a measure of absorbed radiation dose). After 24 hours and 48 hours, 30 mice were injected with activated protein C. After 30 days, only 30% of the uninjected mice had survived, whereas 70% of the injected mice were still alive. Thrombomodulin also increases survival, but must be administered within 30 minutes of radiation exposure to be effective, the researchers found.
?It?s great that the reagents they are using have already been used in humans,? says Mark Whitnall, a radiation biologist at the Armed Forces Radiobiology Research Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. He cautions that the researchers have not conducted the study at the full range of radiation doses as is standard in the field, but he says that it is a great ?first stab? and opens up new possibilities for potential drug targets.
The compounds add to a growing arsenal of anti-radiation drugs that are currently being investigated. Last year, researchers at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, identified a potent combination of an antibiotic and a protein that could stave off radiation-induced infections. Whitnall says that two other compounds for treating radiation sickness are due to move forwards into human clinical trials, and that several others have shown promise in animal studies. ?It?s been an under-appreciated area,? he says.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) ? Mitt Romney on Monday said the Supreme Court should have given states "more latitude" to deal with immigration than the justices allowed when they struck down key parts of Arizona's tough immigration enforcement law.
The likely Republican nominee declined to address the specifics of the court's decision to uphold the Arizona law's "show me your papers" requirement but prohibit police officers from arresting people on minor immigration charges, taking the teeth out of the law's enforcement.
"I would have preferred to see the Supreme Court give more latitude to states, not less. And the states, now under this decision, have less authority, less latitude, to enforce immigration law," Romney told donors at a fundraiser in Scottsdale, a wealthy enclave outside Phoenix. The event raised $2 million, the campaign said.
Romney instead used Monday's ruling as an opportunity to criticize President Barack Obama for what he termed inaction on immigration reform until recently. Romney called for a national immigration strategy and insisted he would tackle immigration during his first year in office.
America's immigration laws have "become a muddle," Romney said.
The court struck down three major provisions of Arizona's immigration enforcement law: requiring all immigrants to obtain or carry immigration registration papers; making it a state criminal offense for an illegal immigrant to seek work or hold a job; and allowing police to arrest suspected illegal immigrants without warrants.
Romney campaign spokesman Rick Gorka told reporters that "the governor supports the states' rights to craft immigration laws when the federal government had failed to do so." He repeatedly declined to answer questions about whether Romney agreed with the ruling or whether the former Massachusetts governor would support the kind of laws the high court found mostly unconstitutional.
Romney has worked to soften his rhetoric on immigration policy since becoming the presumptive Republican nominee for president. During the Republican primary, he never endorsed Arizona's immigration law.
Asked in February during a GOP primary debate in Arizona whether he supported tough immigration enforcement that includes arrests, Romney said: "I think you see a model in Arizona." He then mentioned the federal E-Verify program ? it requires businesses to check the legal status of their employees ? as one way to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in a particular state.
Romney then said: "So going back to the question that was asked, the right course for America is to drop these lawsuits against Arizona and other states that are trying to do the job Barack Obama isn't doing."
The Obama administration sued to block the Arizona law soon after its enactment two years ago.
Protestors greeted Romney at his fundraiser in Scottsdale. The court's immigration ruling "leaves us with a bittersweet victory," said Carlos Galindo, an Obama supporter and the president of the Phoenix-area Immigrant Advocacy Foundation.

As China prepares to launch its first manned space flight in four years, Chinese stock prices are going up.?

For some canny Chinese stock pickers, however, it is a chance to make money.
The Shenzhou 9 mission, due to take off on Saturday, will send three ?taikonauts,? one of them a woman, to dock for the first time with China?s orbiting space lab. The maneuver will mark a major step toward Beijing?s goal of building its own space station.
Back on Earth, meanwhile, the flurry of publicity surrounding the launch has done wonders for the stock prices of Chinese state-owned firms in the space sector. One of them has seen the value of its shares jump 16 percent since the mission was announced Saturday.
The Chinese government and the companies it controls are generally tight-lipped about the space program, releasing information to the public only at high points such as rocket launches. ?Shares go up because they are stimulated by the news,? says Li Qin, an aerospace analyst at China Investment Securities in Beijing.
At the same time, adds Mr. Li, launches are evidence of progress in China?s space sector, ?which sparks market expectations of the sector, so speculative investors jump in.?
The last time China launched a rocket in its space lab program, last year, space sector stocks bucked a falling market to rise by about 10 percent, Li recalls. They have risen by the same amount over the past four days, he says, led by Shaanxi Aerospace Power, a manufacturer of rocket parts, whose shares have leaped 16 percent.
Last year, though, as soon as the Shenzhou 8 rocket had docked with the space lab and interest in its journey faded, the stock prices fell back to their previous levels, Li says, and he expects the same thing to happen this time.
?You could make money if you?d bought space sector stocks on Monday,? he says. ?But you?d have to be careful to sell them before the rocket is launched.?

I?ve reached the age ? and time of year ? where all my friends are getting married. And in between new dresses and shoes and traveling to the ceremonies and bridal showers and so on, there?s always the actual wedding gift.
This weekend ? today, in fact ? my sister?s best friend is getting married in South Carolina. She was registered at multiple places, but I decided to go a different route. So I created a recipe book.
I expected, honestly, to find a recipe organizer (or something similar) at Target, but I had no such luck. So I began to improvise ? a fun-looking journal? Well, not if she wanted to move the recipes around and organize them differently. A wire box of index cards? Not very fancy.
Then I found the photo albums.
I chose a smaller one (104 slots), and then headed over to the index cards. The 4?6 size fit perfectly into the sleeves, since they?re made for 4?6 photos. I picked up a sheet of letter stickers to make the ?cover page,? if you will, and headed home.
Once there, I used the alphabet stickers for the first page. Then I collected my cookbooks and own recipe cards. For the most part, I tried to copy over recipes I?d used myself ? that way, I knew I wasn?t giving her duds. My choices varied from dinners to salads to appetizers to salad dressings to breads to desserts. After I had 30 or 40 cards, I started to organize so I could see where my gaps were ? I only had one pork recipe, for instance.
It took me about a week to copy over 60 recipes, which I mostly did as I caught up on TV or watched a movie at night or over the weekend. The ingredients went on the front, ruled side of the card, and the instructions went on the back.
In the end, it turned out well. The cards can be removed, rearranged or have notes added. And after I copied 60 recipes, i filled the other slots with blank index cards. Hopefully Kate and Josh can enjoy themselves trying out a new recipe or two ? and add their own, if they want.
Here?s how the cost broke down:
Photo album ? $8
Alphabet stickers ? 99 cents
Two packs (200) 4?6 index cards ? $1.68
Wedding card ? $3.29
Total: $13.96

Microsoft?s Surface tablet will launch as a Wi-Fi-only device, according to a report from Bloomberg. And though Microsoft has remained ambiguous about its tablet?s pricing, saying it will be ?comparable? to tablets with similar specs, a report from The Next Web indicates the Windows RT model will start at $599, and the Windows 8 Pro model will start at $999.
At the Surface?s unveiling Monday, Microsoft execs pointed out that the tablet comes with 2?2 MIMO antennas, giving the device a very strong Wi-Fi connection. But there was no mention of 3G or 4G connection capabilities.
While Apple?s iPad does come in a 4G-enabled model, it might not hurt Microsoft?s Surface sales by much if it opts to not include this capability, as the majority of tablet users rely solely on Wi-Fi connections. According to NPD Group?s research, 65 percent of tablet users connect using only Wi-Fi and skip the option to purchase a mobile broadband plan. The study attributes this to the high cost of data plans, and to the fact that Wi-Fi connections are available in many locations. For mainstream consumers, paying less for an actual tablet and not getting a data plan is more appealing than the alternative.
Microsoft could also be going Wi-Fi-only to keep its Surface price down, making it competitive with the iPad. But it doesn?t look like the Surface will undercut the iPad in any way. The starting price is supposedly set at $599 for the 32GB model ? that?s exactly the same cost as the latest 32GB Wi-Fi-only iPad, and it?s significantly more expensive than competing Android tablets.
On the higher end, Microsoft Surface for Windows 8 Pro will reportedly cost $999, which is about the same price as an ultrabook. It?s not a surprise, considering how often Microsoft execs referred to the Surface as ?a powerful PC? during Monday?s launch. If the tablets come bundled with the Touch Cover or Type Cover, then the high price would make more sense. Still, it might come as sticker shock to consumers who are used to seeing tablets for much less.
Of course, Microsoft has not confirmed these prices, or whether the Surface will have cellular data capabilities. The company could make any number of changes to the tablet lineup in the months leading up to the device?s expected fall launch.

'I didn't sing on the record at all. It just was a rap song,' budding MC Breezy tells MTV News.
By Rebecca Thomas
When we caught up with Chris Brown last March, he was still rocking a blond crop (remember that?) and he'd just dropped what he jokingly called his "first rap video," "Look at Me Now." Breezy's bars were cheeky, with allusions to yellow Lambos ... among other things yellow — and surprisingly adept.
Still, while featured guest Lil Wayne gave the pop&B singer a co-sign, the YMCMB captain also famously told Rolling Stone that he would stop at letting Brown spit on his own record, insisting, "I cannot have Chris Brown rapping on Tha Carter IV." Weezy offered this by way of explanation: "Do you know how many rappers would be like, 'I can't get on Tha Carter IV, but this n---a put Chris Brown on that bitch? Rapping?' "
Well, Chris wasn't going to sit around waiting Wayne to give him a feature. Having made enough believers out of the chart-topping track, he decided to keep it coming.
"I didn't sing on the record at all. It just was a rap song," Brown told us when he visited the MTV Newsroom last week, incidentally, hours before he found himself at the center of a bottle brawl with rapper Drake. "So I was like, 'Cool, if they going with it, I'm gonna keep going.' "
Freestyles followed as Chris shored up his rap cred. And on the upcoming Fortune, he put the growth on display, teaming up again with F.A.M.E. collaborators Big Sean and Wiz Khalifa for the drum-laced "Till I Die."
But Team Breezy shouldn't worry that Chris plans to quit crooning. Though he has the full blessing of his (initially reluctant) management team to craft sweet 16s, he's just having a good time. "With the hip-hop and the rapping, it's more of — I wouldn't say [a] hobby — it's just me expressing myself.
"I'm not going to sit here and say I'm the best rapper or I'm a rapper," he added with a big smile. "I'm just saying I could do it, I guess, if y'all like it."
How do you rate Chris' skills as an MC? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

Summer solstice is the first day of the rest of your summer ? and kids headed to camp start thinking how to squeeze into the two-piece bathing suits and past the dress codes, whether to leave the cell phone and makeup behind. A new survey shows that many camps want kids to leave most of it at home.

Yes, Virginia, it's possible to enjoy summer camp without cell phones, hair dryers, makeup and ? gasp ? skimpy tops, short shorts and teeny bikinis.
The grown-ups want to give you a break on all the pressure to look prettier, sexier and ritzier than your bunkmates. Consider it that thing your parents can't or won't manage the rest of the year, but that camp directors have little pushback in achieving.
Of 361 camps surveyed recently by the American Camp Association, about 71 percent said they have some form of dress code, uniform or restriction on makeup and swimwear. Nearly 22 percent said such policies are aimed at lessening personal differences to reduce teasing. Others said the idea is to make it easier for campers to focus on having fun.
"I don't need every single kid to look the same. I just don't want them to compete or worry about what they wear. This kind of takes the guesswork out of it," said Corey Dockswell, director of the all-girl Camp Wicosuta in central New Hampshire.
With only 20 percent of about 7,000 sleepaway camps accredited by the ACA, it's difficult to know how many use uniforms or adhere to strict rules on dress, makeup and hair appliances. Most require campers to leave the tech at home, especially the kind that makes calls or connects to the Internet.
No "breasts, bellies or butts" is the general rule on dress for girls ? at single-sex and coed camps alike. Kyle Courtiss, director of Camp Vega for girls on Echo Lake in Maine, added one-piece swimsuits ? no ties ? to his policy only last summer.
"Today more than ever there's so many options for bathing suits and it was really countering what our mission was," he said. "We want to reduce the time they spend thinking about what they're going to wear and comparing clothes."
Contemporary camp uniforms are far from the boxy, itchy garb of yesteryear. Usually they're nothing more than T-shirts and shorts adorned with the camp logo, or a selection of camp shirts and shorts in different styles and fabrics, sweatshirts, sweatpants and soft cotton pajama pants. Some allow tank tops but many don't permit spaghetti straps or anything lacy or revealing.
Dockswell's camp requires uniforms for kids up to fifth grade but has a more liberal approach with older campers, allowing them to wear their own clothes in modest styles and solid colors. No designer duds or logos are permitted and one-piece bathing suits are required for all ages.
"At school a lot of times you are what you wear," Dockswell said. "At camp that's not what we're about."
Boys' inappropriate T-shirts are also subject to logo bans, along with such styles as underwear-exposing saggy pants.
When it comes to makeup and hair appliances, some camps are looking to free girls of worry over how they look but also to reduce the time it takes them to get ready each morning.
"It's nice not to straighten my hair every day or put on makeup," said nearly 13-year-old Jenny Entin of North Caldwell, N.J. This is her sixth year at Southwoods, a coed camp attended by her two older sisters and a brother in the Adirondacks of New York.
