Surprising New Findings Regarding Nutrition : Ideas For Women ...

Some of the best fitness magazines are sporting articles on the good, the bad, and the ugly regarding the real nutrition of common foods. Researching some of these articles and the basis for these new facts I have discovered most are true?. Be ware of what you believe and what you are being told regarding the value of each of the foods you eat.

Here are some of the most common facts that I have discovered.

A lean beef patty is not only less calories but more nutritious than a chicken breast sandwich especially when ordering out. Chicken is often injected with salty water and chemicals to keep it moist giving it a? high salt content ( not very healthy) while a lean beef patty can have 50 less calories and more protein without the added salt. In this case beef can be healthier than chicken.

How about brown eggs? Would you think brown eggs are better or the same for you as white eggs? Most experts agree that white eggs have the same nutrients that brown eggs contain. Brown eggs just look healthier and they appeal to your eye.? Marketers count on you to buy with emotion and not on the facts.

The bottom line is this. Ask, seek the facts, and do your research before you make drastic changes in your diet. It is a matter of your health and what is the real truth about nutrition.

Memorial service for Inouye to be held in Hawaii

HONOLULU (AP) ? Hawaii residents will bid a final goodbye to the late Sen. Daniel Inouye on Sunday.

Services are scheduled at Honolulu's National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, a strikingly beautiful site located in an extinct volcano and serving as the final resting place to thousands of World War II veterans, including more than 400 members of the storied Japanese-American 442nd Regimental Combat Team, of which Inouye was a part. Inouye's first wife, Margaret, is also laid to rest at the site.

Inouye died last Monday of respiratory complications at the age of 88. He was the first Japanese-American elected to both houses of Congress and the second-longest serving senator in U.S. history, at 50 years. He was revered in Hawaii for his ability to bring federal aid and resources home, to help build up this still-young state.

The past week has been marked by tributes and honors for Inouye, with Senate colleagues from both parties, President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and former President Bill Clinton among those offering warm remembrances. Services for Inouye were held both in Washington and in Hawaii. He lay in state at both the U.S. Capitol Rotunda on Thursday and the Hawaii state Capitol on Saturday.

A public memorial is planned for Friday on Kauai.

Up to 1,000 people were expected at Sunday's service, including members of Congress, with speeches by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., and Sen. Daniel Akaka planned. Akaka, D-Hawaii, served alongside Inouye as a member of Hawaii's congressional delegation for 36 years, 22 of those in the Senate.

A military jet fly-over and a 19-gun cannon salute are also planned.

Nadine Siak, a public affairs specialist at the cemetery, said Sunday's service will be a memorial with plans for a private burial by the family later.

Pope pardons Vatican butler

Pope Benedict XVI granted his former butler a Christmas pardon Saturday, forgiving him in person during a jailhouse meeting for stealing and leaking his private papers in one of the gravest Vatican security breaches in recent times.

After the 15-minute meeting, Paolo Gabriele was freed and returned to his Vatican City apartment where he lives with his wife and three children. The Vatican said he couldn't continue living or working in the Vatican, but said it would find him housing and a job elsewhere soon.

"This is a paternal gesture toward someone with whom the pope for many years shared daily life," according to a statement from the Vatican secretariat of state.

The pardon closes a painful and embarrassing chapter for the Vatican, capping a sensational, Hollywood-like scandal that exposed power struggles, intrigue and allegations of corruption and homosexual liaisons in the highest levels of the Catholic Church.

Gabriele, 46, was arrested May 23 after Vatican police found what they called an "enormous" stash of papal documents in his Vatican City apartment. He was convicted of aggravated theft by a Vatican tribunal on Oct. 6 and has been serving his 18-month sentence in the Vatican police barracks.

He told Vatican investigators he gave the documents to Italian journalist Gianluigi Nuzzi because he thought the 85-year-old pope wasn't being informed of the "evil and corruption" in the Vatican and thought that exposing it publicly would put the church back on the right track.

During the trial, Gabriele testified that he loved the pope "as a son loves his father" and said he never meant to hurt the pontiff or the church. A photograph taken during the meeting Saturday ? the first between Benedict and his once trusted butler since his arrest ? showed Gabriele dressed in his typical dark gray suit, smiling.

The publication of the leaked documents, first on Italian television then in Nuzzi's book "His Holiness: Pope Benedict XVI's Secret Papers" convulsed the Vatican all year, a devastating betrayal of the pope from within his papal family that exposed the unseemly side of the Catholic Church's governance.

The papal pardon had been widely expected before Christmas, and the jailhouse meeting Benedict used to personally deliver it recalled the image of Pope John Paul II visiting Mehmet Ali Agca, the Turkish gunman who shot him in 1981, while he served his sentence in an Italian prison.

The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the meeting was "intense" and "personal" and said that during it Benedict "communicated to him in person that he had accepted his request for pardon, commuting his sentence."

Lombardi said the Vatican hoped the Benedict's pardon and Gabriele's freedom would allow the Holy See to return to work "in an atmosphere of serenity."

None of the leaked documents threatened the papacy. Most were of interest only to Italians, as they concerned relations between Italy and the Vatican and a few local scandals and personalities. Their main aim appeared to be to discredit Benedict's trusted No. 2, the secretary of state, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone.

Vatican officials have said the theft, though, shattered the confidentiality that typically governs correspondence with the pope. Cardinals, bishops and everyday laymen write to him about spiritual and practical matters assuming that their words will be treated with the discretion for which the Holy See is known.

As a result, the leaks prompted a remarkable reaction, with the pope naming a commission of three cardinals to investigate alongside Vatican prosecutors. Italian news reports have said new security measures and personnel checks have been put in place to prevent a repeat offense.

Gabriele insisted he acted alone, with no accomplices, but it remains an open question whether any other heads will roll. Technically the criminal investigation remains open, and few in the Vatican believe Gabriele could have construed such a plot without at least the endorsement if not the outright help of others. But Lombardi said he had no new information to release about any new investigative leads, saying the pardon "closed a sad and painful chapter" for the Holy See.

Nuzzi, who has supported Gabriele as a hero for having exposed corruption in the Vatican, tweeted Saturday that it appeared the butler was thrilled to speak with the pope and go home. "Unending joy for him, but the problems of the curia and power remain," he wrote, referring to the Vatican bureaucracy.

A Vatican computer expert, Claudio Sciarpelletti, was convicted Nov. 10 of aiding and abetting Gabriele by changing his testimony to Vatican investigators about the origins of an envelope with Gabriele's name on it that was found in his desk. His two-month sentence was suspended. Lombardi said a pardon was expected for him as well. He recently returned to work in the Vatican.

Benedict met this past week with the cardinals who investigated the origins of the leaks, but it wasn't known if they provided him with any further updates or were merely meeting ahead of the expected pardon for Gabriele.

As supreme executive, legislator and judge in Vatican City, the pope had the power to pardon Gabriele at any time. The only question was when.

Iranian TV Blames Sandy Hook Shootings on 'Israeli Death Squads ...

Iranian TV Channel Blames Sandy Hook Shootings on ?Israeli Death Squads? and that Adam Lanza Was Just the ?Fall Guy?The Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre has been blamed on issues ranging from lax gun control to mental illness. Now, Iran?s English television outlet, Press TV, is spreading a new conspiracy theory, blaming the shooting not on a troubled Adam Lanza but on what one commentator called ?Israeli death squads.?

An American contributor to Press TV, Michael Harris, a former Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate, made the outrageous claim that Israel launched a so-called U.S.-based ?death squad? to carry out the murders. He claims Israel targeted the U.S., because Palestinians won their bid at the U.N. last month to upgrade their status to that of non-member state. Harris doesn?t bother mentioning that the U.S. sided with Israel and opposed the Palestinian bid. Evoking Lee Harvey Oswald and conspiracies around President Kennedy?s assassination, Harris said Lanza was just the ?fall guy.?

The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) transcribed excerpts of his televised comments, including the fabricated Israel-sponsored ?revenge killing? smear:

Now you look at Israel, [which has] just lost their bid to thwart Palestine from being recognized by the United Nations, and now here we go, here is a revenge killing in the U.S., sponsored by Israel, that killed all these innocent children ? and that is something that Israelis do very, very well. They target the innocent, they target children, they target women, and they avoid the issue, because they are angry they did not get their way, and now Palestine has standing in the U.N., and Israel is going to be subject to the International Criminal Court, and their leadership is going to be taken to task. [?]

You have to realize that Israel has been operating death squads in the U.S., since Gabby Giffords and Judge Roll were shot in Tucson. There have been other incidents, such as the Aurora, Colorado shooting, that was again Israeli death squads operating in the U.S.

Harris either doesn?t know or chooses not to note that that former Arizona Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords ? critically injured in the 2011 Tuscon shooting ? is herself Jewish.

He continued his remarks by doling out stereotypical anti-Semitic slander including the Jews control Hollywood. It appears the man Press TV calls an ?intelligence analyst? doesn?t realize that by blaming Hollywood?s negative influence on youths like Lanza, he?s undercutting his ?death squads? accusation:

We have had a Zionist-controlled Hollywood, a Zionist-controlled news media that is the conduit to all of this violence. [It brings] this imagery into every home in America, and you still wonder why there is a culture of violence? It is because it comes from the Jews in Hollywood. That is where the conduit of violence comes from.

And if it weren?t enough to blame Israel for the actions of a deranged individual, Harris then says the ?Israel lobby? will ?cover up? the ?truth? behind who was involved.

Now, they are also calling for a Congressional hearing. One thing you can count on with a Congressional hearing is that there is going to be a cover up, because all of our Congressmen are bought and paid for by the Israel lobby in the U.S. So any truth of this is going to be hidden, because Israel wants it hidden, because they are once again the guilty party.

Harris reveals his true colors ? in lockstep with the genocidal statements of his Iranian employers and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ? that he wants Israel wiped off the map. Does this language sound familiar?

I am very much anti-Israel. I want Israel off the face of the earth. They are the source of all problems in the Middle East. They are the original terrorists. Do not forget that this killing in Newtown was a revenge killing because Israel lost the vote about Palestine being recognized in the U.N. That is all it is about, it happens every time. It is Israelis acting out, throwing a fit, and exacting revenge from the United States.

That is exactly what it is and I am tired of the kid-gloves with Israel, it is time to go bare knuckles with them. Let?s go.

Press TV took the conspiracy one step further. Reminiscent of conspiracy theories raging in the Muslim world after 9/11, Press TV suggests on its website that there was something sinister behind Sandy Hook?s secretary calling in sick on the fateful day. It writes:

Joanne Didonato, the principal?s secretary, called in sick on Friday ? something she rarely does. So presumably, she must have been awfully ill. Yet she then felt well enough to give an interview. ?Of all days,? she said, emphasizing the strange coincidence.

Hispasat, the Spanish communications satellite company, last week decided to drop two Iranian channels including Press TV and Hispan TV.

American Jewish Committee Executive Director David Harris was quoted by JNS saying: ?No satellite company in the Western world should enable the dissemination of propaganda from an Iranian government that denies human rights, supports terror organizations and is determined to achieve nuclear weapons capability.?

Mohammed Sarafraaz, a senior official with Iranian state broadcaster IRIB told Iran?s Mehr News: ?Their attempt to silence Iranian media is misguided. Their approach to Iranian media reminds us of the law of the jungle and inquisition in medieval times when knowledge was crime.?

He also took the opportunity to blame Israel:

?The coincidence of sanction against Iranian media and hundreds of millions of dollars of support to help Israeli missile arsenal by Congress indicates that in the view of US officials, these two actions are equal,? he explained. ?The ban on Press TV is an outcome of pressures by Zionist lobbyists on Congress after Israel?s defeat in 8-day war of Gaza and Hamas missile-launching to the heart of Israel,? he added.

Other European satellite companies in France and Britain dropped Iranian state television channels in October after EU foreign ministers agreed on new sanctions in an effort to pressure Iran over its clandestine nuclear program.

tips for small business

Relocation is often the result of a company?s expansion or the end of its current lease. An expanding business isn?t a bad thing. However, once a business begins to grow, more office space is often needed. Whether you?re moving from a home office to a new workspace or relocating from one commercial building to another, choosing an office space for your business isn?t easy. Once you have chosen your new location, the move itself is the next bridge you?ll have to cross. Businesses make money when the company is up and running; therefore, since?your whole business, or parts of it at various times, will be non-operational during the move, you want to make sure the process is as efficient as possible. Here are five tips to help you relocate your small business office efficiently and quickly:

1. Create a timeline for when packing and the move will take place

Now that you know where you are moving, coordinating a move can be a challenge with all the equipment and furniture contained within an office. Evaluate the current situation of your company?s office to see how you want the new office to be laid out and how you plan to make it happen within your designated budget. 4-6 months before the move, you?ll need to make sure employees are well aware of when changes will be occurring. Schedule time for updating the Internet and phone services and obtaining the necessary permits, licenses and insurance policies. The larger the office you have, the more time you will need to plan.

Four Pacific Northwest ports headed for possible labor clash

SEATTLE, PORTLAND, Oregon (Reuters) - Nearly 3,000 union dock workers at four Pacific Northwest ports began voting on Friday on a "final" contract offer presented by grain shippers, setting the stage for a possible labor clash should workers reject the proposal, as urged by union leaders.

The potential stalemate has fueled speculation that the shipping companies might move to impose a lockout of union members and keep the grain terminals operating with replacement workers in the event management's offer fails to win approval.

The U.S. Coast Guard said earlier this week it was preparing to establish buffer zones to keep union-related protests from interfering with navigation around two of the ports in question.

Votes on a contract proposal Northwest shippers called their "last, best and final" offer were being cast Friday and Saturday by nearly 3,000 rank-and-file union members in Portland, Oregon, and in Seattle, Tacoma and Vancouver, Washington.

The International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) said it expects to announce results of the vote on Monday.

The proposed contract covers six of the nine grain terminals operating in the Puget Sound and along the Columbia River the industry says account for more than a quarter of all U.S. grain exports and nearly half of U.S. wheat exports.

The union dock workers at those six terminals have been without a contract since September 30. Talks stalled after the union presented its latest proposal on November 16. Following two days of federally mediated negotiations, the companies on December 17 rejected a union counteroffer.

Union negotiators then submitted the companies' November 16 offer to the rank and file but unanimously recommended that it be rejected.

An ILWU representative said the shipping companies have hired a Delaware-based company that specializes in providing security and replacement workers in labor disputes.

But the union official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because she is not authorized to publicly discuss the status of talks, said the ILWU remains unsure of the shippers' intent.

'ALL CONTINGENCIES ARE ON THE TABLE'

A spokesman for the Pacific Northwest Grain Handlers Association, which represents the shipping companies and the grain terminals they own, declined to say whether management might move to lock out union workers.

"All contingencies are on the table as to what would happen next," said the spokesman, Pat McCormick. "It's an extremely complicated issue that's been in play for an extended period of time."

The prospect of labor unrest at the ports prompted the Coast Guard to establish temporary "safety zones" around the Columbia Grain facility in Portland and the United Grain Corp. terminal in Vancouver.

"These safety zones are being established to ensure that protest activities relating to a labor dispute involving these facilities do not create hazardous navigation conditions for vessels in the navigable channel or vessels attempting to moor at the facilities," the Coast Guard said in a statement.

Both sides have declined to discuss in detail the points of contention that have blocked a settlement.

McCormick said the chief issue is "beneficial work rules that provide a cost advantage."

He added that shippers were seeking the same workplace rules and terms the union had agreed to after lengthy and contentious labor talks with EGT, an exporter that opened a new $200 million terminal last year in Longview, Washington.

The ILWU cited 750 changes it said the companies were seeking to impose on labor contract terms that have stood for more than 80 years.

The possibility of a waterfront labor showdown in Washington state and Oregon comes as ports along the U.S. Atlantic and Gulf coasts brace for a separate strike threatened for December 30 by union dock workers unless shippers extend their contract.

Weeks ago, harbor clerks and union longshoremen honoring their picket lines staged an eight-day walkout at the twin ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, idling much of the nation's busiest cargo-shipping complex.
